TEXT: JOHN 8:30-32

30 As he spake these words, many believed on him.
31  Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;
32  And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

” Truth,” doesn’t stand alone, but is connected with something.  Truth needs to be connected to all aspects of your life.  Truth is connected to things that give it, it’s value.  Facts, reality, honesty, etc.  Truth cannot be defined falsely.  Truth will make you free.  A wicked society will often suggest you should live like they do, which creates and binds you to doubt, pride, vanity, and of less important things than the values of God’s Truth.  The Truth is necessary as opposed to what the “world” offers mankind.  Without it you cannot be connected to all God gives of freedom.

How does Truth affect your actions?  For instance in this last week?  Does God care?  Yes, it affects your relationship with Him.  God wants all of you, not a “halfway service.”  You cannot serve both God and mammon (world, self), Matthew 6:24. It is self that ultimately brings us to the bondage of sin.  Too many think they can serve the ideas generated from self, and yet still serve God.  This double minded thinking happens, when Truth is not really connected to their everyday living, and is irrelevant. To them truth is only a shadow, connected to their personal desires, in their minds, but not their hearts.  Truth is connected to judgment, righteousness, and mercy, Psalms 57:3, and 96:13.

Truth is that which produces a right way of living.  It testifies of Christ and His Spirit, John 15:26.  Truth brings freedom from sin, and makes us the servants of righteousness, Romans 6:18.  Truth brings Freedom to really serve God, and not self.  Truth cleanses from all that is not like Jesus, …when we choose it.  Truth helps us find solutions to all our problems, and corrects us when we need it. Truth will keep you from sin.

Truth is important, for when you know it, it will set you free!
