Sunday Morning Podcast May 31, 2015. Bro. Dave Goble.
1 Thus saith the LORD to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have holden, to subdue nations before him; and I will loose the loins of kings, to open before him the two leaved gates; and the gates shall not be shut;
2 I will go before thee, and make the crooked places straight: I will break in pieces the gates of brass, and cut in sunder the bars of iron:
3 And I will give thee the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places, that thou mayest know that I, the LORD, which call thee by thy name, am the God of Israel.
4 For Jacob my servant’s sake, and Israel mine elect, I have even called thee by thy name: I have surnamed thee, though thou hast not known me.
5 I am the LORD, and there is none else, there is no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me:
6 That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none beside me. I am the LORD, and there is none else.
7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.
God is still the ‘Star’, no matter where, or what we are going through! Forget about the pastor, leaders, etc., …God only is the Star. Let God be your Star. If you say, or are God’s child, you will let Him be the Star of your life. It’s not about yours, or my “life story.” It is only about God’s supremacy, not self. We must not just go along, but get and keep, God as the Star of our life’s journey. For it is not religion, or exalted people, but God only that is and can be, the Star. In your “personal universe” …do you exalt God as the Star? Our God has done wonderful things for each of us! God is already ‘the’ Star, but do we honor Him as that in our life? Do we correctly prioritize Him in that position? Do we make God our ambition in life? Our Star?
The text scripture above, was written to King Cyrus, a great ruler of that time. This king had conquered the land of his inhabitation, and all the lands around about. Many of God’s people were in exile here. So God chose and anointed King Cyrus (the most powerful man in the land at this time) here to set His people free. God directed here, in letting King Cyrus know that He (God) had made him the most powerful ruler, and that he needed to use that power to free God’s people. The important One here is God. He was, and is, the giver of all power. He, God is the Star. We must never presume that we are, or can do anything, without God’s direction and power. Woe unto him that striveth with his Maker! Let the potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth. Shall the clay say to him that fashioneth it, What makest thou? or thy work, He hath no hands? Isaiah 45:9
It is not man’s place (or opinion) to decide who loses or wins spiritually. Opinions rarely solve problems, can get in the way of the Word of God, and are best left out. We can not be subject to our own way, desires, choices, and expect to win with God. God instructs us to listen, for you cannot be right, unless you are willing for your opinions to be wrong. He is the Star, and not your mere humanity. God will have His way. He is the real Star. If we are going to have help for our spiritual life, it will only come through being submissive to God. Making God our life’s focus, …the Star of our show.
Let’s endeavor to always keep God the Star of our show!
