TEXT: JOHN 8:34-36

34 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.
35  And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever.
36  If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

Human freedom is ultimately nothing, without divine freedom. It is a happy thing, if our freedom is in Christ. There is also tho, a freedom that is more philosophical, but not divine as Jesus gives us. God wants us to understand that His freedom is not theory, but indeed is true and divine. Galatians 5:1 tells us to stand fast in the liberty that hath made us free.  If you’ve been made free from sin, don’t go back to it, or become again entangled.  God’s grace is sufficient to help you!  A key for God’s grace, is to have a heart of divine worship, to stay free. Otherwise you will have a yoke of bondage that will lead you back to the former life of sin.

Satan wants you to think that your prior life of sin, really wasn’t that bad.  This is deceptive. The apostle Paul, in Galatians 4:9 asks us “But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage?”  Looking back fondly on our past deeds of self and sin, will eventually draw us back to that way of life. This takes us back to bondage. Free from the purity of God. For when you were the servants of sin, you were free from righteousness, (Romans 6:20).  If you desire, God can help you see that His way is the more attractive way of living. Stand fast, …and don’t look back.  God’s grace will then keep you free indeed.

It is a birth right that we inherit to choose good or evil,  purity or sin.  For it is God’s love, that does not force us to serve Him, (Joshua 24:13). God instead gives us freewill.  It is our true love for Him, if we willingly choose Him.  It is also designed if we stray away from God, that we have the ability to choose to return to Him. God’s love gives us that choice.  If we have chosen to serve God,  He will direct our paths. It is so we can be free, and stay free.  Being divinely free, comes from being submitted fully to the will of Christ.

Are you truly free to follow Christ, ….free indeed and standing fast?
