15 And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.
16  And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:
17  But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

GENESIS 3:22-24

22 And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:

23 Therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken.

24 So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.

Paul is speaking (I Corinthians 15) about the  resurrection, or the second Adam.  This last Adam is a quickening Spirit.  This Adam’s purpose, is to make us spiritually alive.  The first Adam is of an earthy nature, and is spiritually dead.  We all have been the first Adam, of the carnal nature.  Thankfully we have the promise also of the second Adam which quickens to a spiritual life in Jesus.

22 “For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.”

42  So also is the resurrection of the dead.  It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption:

46 Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual.

47 The first man is of the earth, earthy; the second man is the Lord from heaven.

49 And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly. 1 Corinthians

The first Adam is that which came from the choice to sin, bringing spiritual death.  The second Adam is Christ bringing us spiritual resurrection, the newness of life.  From death to life.

Our concern needs to be focused on spiritual life, or heavenly concerns.  There will continue to be many earthly problems and things that can, and do concern us humanly. Obedience is key.   Revelations 22:24 “Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. To become of the second Adam, is an experience of redemption that makes all of life, more beautiful and truly worth living. We have a “heavenly” vision, when everything has been changed, from a carnal fleshly life of spiritual death, to the newness of the second Adam …which is Christ.

When Adam and Eve were in the garden, they had been created sinless, God having breathed in them the breath of spiritual life. They also had been created with free will, and given choices of fruit trees of which they could eat.  One was the tree of life, but another was the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, which they were warned not to eat of.  The choices given were to test Adam and Eve’s love for God.  It was the serpent Satan, that tempted Eve to eat from the forbidden tree.  She listened, disobeying God, and led her husband to do the same.  It was then that their eyes were open to what sin is, where before they had not known.  It was here that they, and all descendants of mankind, were born into spiritual death.  This is representative of the first Adam, a sensual and earthy life, the full result of disobedience, or from choosing sin.  In the first Adam, one is deaf and blind spiritually.   In the second Adam, a soul is resurrected to life in God, where before the heart had been made accountable and separated by sin.

Is there more of the first Adam (earthiness) in you to sin, or of the second, a “resurrected” spiritual Adam that lives holy?
