TEXT: 1 SAMUEL 1:20-28

20 Wherefore it came to pass, when the time was come about after Hannah had conceived, that she bare a son, and called his name Samuel, saying, Because I have asked him of the LORD.
21  And the man Elkanah, and all his house, went up to offer unto the LORD the yearly sacrifice, and his vow.
22  But Hannah went not up; for she said unto her husband, I will not go up until the child be weaned, and then I will bring him, that he may appear before the LORD, and there abide for ever.
23  And Elkanah her husband said unto her, Do what seemeth thee good; tarry until thou have weaned him; only the LORD establish his word. So the woman abode, and gave her son suck until she weaned him.
24  And when she had weaned him, she took him up with her, with three bullocks, and one ephah of flour, and a bottle of wine, and brought him unto the house of the LORD in Shiloh: and the child was young.
25  And they slew a bullock, and brought the child to Eli.
26  And she said, Oh my lord, as thy soul liveth, my lord, I am the woman that stood by thee here, praying unto the LORD.
27  For this child I prayed; and the LORD hath given me my petition which I asked of him:
28  Therefore also I have lent him to the LORD; as long as he liveth he shall be lent to the LORD. And he worshipped the LORD there.

Hannah was blessed by God to be given the desire of her heart, ..a child.  She poured out her heart because she sought fulfillment to be a mother (1 Samuel 1:10,11), and was then blessed with a son, whom she named Samuel.  This story is among others in the bible, about good mothers, like Hannah. This makes evident, that good mothers are important to God and His plan.  Children need good and godly mothers.  Though some have not had the example of a good mother in their life, there are examples in God’s word, and sometimes all                             around us.   If you can even say, “My mom loved me,” you have reason to be thankful.  If you in addition had, or still have a godly mom,  even more you should be grateful.  For a godly mother is the foundation to having faith.

The spirit of this world is often a discouraging place for motherhood and families.  When someone feels they didn’t get what was “expected,” the world attacks their faith. Satan knows if he can get to the mothers, he can then also negatively affect others.  Mothers, don’t let this happen!  To be a mother is a natural, godly desire,  and even more a privilege.   Often the world in spirit has tarnished this wholesome yearning. God doesn’t want us to listen to those worldly “voices.”  God gathers, attaches, and nourishes us through The Church.  Like The Church, a godly mother will be an example of how to live holy, through behavior, words, modesty, etc., which without, one loses their connection with God.  Without being attached to God, we are nothing, and without the inheritance of Salvation.  While a natural mother’s focus is for her children’s welfare, even more spiritually, The Church is focused on seeking souls to be redeemed for the body of Christ.  Jesus, (through The Church), His body, the Mother, seeks to keep rescued souls attached closely within His arms.

Have you become disconnected from “The Mother” by problems that are sin, or lead to it?  Christ can resolve that. God can restore all that seek Him.
