TEXT: PROVERBS 23:23

Buy the truth, and sell it not; also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding.

The truth is as precious, as a pearl of great price!  “Who when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it.”  Matthew  13:46   God’s truth needs to be esteemed above all, for it is more valuable than anything we can possess.  Living by God’s truth, makes one rich.   Nothing that we can do, is more important.  In these desperate times, even more we need to be truth seekers!  In this temporal life, selling the less important things (like we might in a yard sale), makes the treasures of truth more valuable  to us, and pleasing to God.  So also is the need to sell less important personal ideas, attitudes, and ways, to show to us the preciousness of His truth for our soul.  If God ask you to “sell something,” are you willing?

The search to know what God asks, will require one to be willing to leave behind their personal possessions, will and wisdom“And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?” Matthew 19:16  This young ruler, (because he was already keeping the whole law), sought to justify his life’s choices spiritually.  Yet he still lacked something.  Jesus, after reciting parts of the law, then instructed for him to sell all that he had, and follow Him, “But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.” Matthew 19:22  What is it, that you believe God might ask you to sell, in order to work in His Kingdom?  If the Lord ask you to “sell” something of your self, are you willing?  It is critical that you buy the truth with all that you possess.  Whatever God “convicts” you of,  …let it go.  Otherwise it will become a burden and hindrance to your spiritual life.  Our love for truth, will help reveal what God wants us to seek and buy, and not sell it.

Are we willing to buy the truth, and sell it not?
