TEXT: ACTS 20:28  Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.

Do you see yourself as a servant?  If so, what does that mean?   Collectively, a congregation that ceases to serve, dies.  A congregation that serves, thrives!  Service with dedication, happens with joy!  Trials  can cause us to focus on self.  The best way through a trial?  To serve someone else in need.  Bad things happen when we stop serving others.  When we care about somebody we do, or don’t know, good things happen!  It is spiritually vital to be called to be a servant for God.  Do you sometimes lose sight of what that means? Don’t beat yourself up over it, but take the opportunity to do better.

If we are God’s servant, God deserves our service!  Men and women today, often have lost the value of service.   The world is competing for our interest.  Satan wants to “lower the cost,” making our services of little or no value. Satan will tell you that it costs you too much to serve God.   The costs then become more important, than the service.  It is when one is not willing to offer the cost of their self, that spiritual service gets devalued.   People often become satisfied with that kind of a relationship.  But God is not satisfied with any, ..that are satisfied with less. Our service is to follow Jesus. If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father  honour.  John 12:26  If we’re going to be a servant of Christ, we will a follower of Him.

Jesus purchased us with His blood, so that we can glorify Him! “For ye are brought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s. 1 Corinthians 3:20  God calls us to be servants as this scripture defines, (Matthew 25:34-40.)  If we see someone in need,  God ask us to help in whatever way we can, sometimes more than we think we are able.  The temptation will be to be focused on self, instead of helping others in whatever needs they have. But God didn’t tell us to value our personal needs more.  Godly service is based on a sacrificial cost and value.

The one that complains the most, are the ones who do the least.  The ones who do the most, complain the least.  Our service begins with our Salvation.
