TEXT: 2 CORINTHIANS 5:20  Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.

EPHESIANS 6:20  For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

What does it mean to be an ambassador for Christ? It means to represent the gospel to any that might not possess it in their hearts.   An ambassador of Christ, will take His word boldly to those who are without it. It is to help souls get an understanding of their need, to desire Christ.  In a literal sense, to be an ambassador, is to represent one’s country to a foreign one.  To be an ambassador requires one to be called, and qualified for it.  Not only in a literal sense, but also spiritually.  Spiritually everyone is called, but actually becoming an ambassador, must be decided individually.

Not all claiming to be ambassadors are genuine ones.   In Acts 19:11-16,  Paul’s testimony as an ambassador, performed many miracles, healing, and casting out devils.   There were some other religious people that also sought to cast out devils.  Because they did not have a genuine calling from God, they had no power from God over the devils, to cast them out. Those dark spirits called out that they recognized Jesus, and Paul, but did not recognize God’s power in these others.  The evil spirits overcame the unqualified, so much that the witnesses that had observed, were shaken to a godly fear for truth.   This illustrates how vital it is to have the spiritual credentials,  just as the requirement would be in a literal sense.

The spiritual credentials is this; to be called to live a holy life.  God calls us to forsake sin, to live for him.  Some might mistakenly or by choice decide that God doesn’t require this.  But many scriptures clear up that confusion or deception.  Romans 6:1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?  2 God forbid.  How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?  Living without sin, is to live holy.  God doesn’t ask what He won’t give the power through His blood for.  Only when we become dead to sin, can we be a representative of Christ.  Only without sin, can we answer the call to reach others for Salvation.

Are you an ambassador for Christ?  You can be!
