TEXT: EXODUS 32:32-35
32 Yet now, if thou wilt forgive their sin–; and if not, blot me, I pray thee, out of thy book which thou hast written.
33 And the LORD said unto Moses, Whosoever hath sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book.
34 Therefore now go, lead the people unto the place of which I have spoken unto thee: behold, mine Angel shall go before thee: nevertheless in the day when I visit I will visit their sin upon them.
35 And the LORD plagued the people, because they made the calf, which Aaron made.
Moses was willing to pay the penalty for Israel’s great sin of idol worship. He was willing to the point of having his name blotted out of the Book of Life. This Book of Life, is a record of inheritance for all choosing to live within God’s will. Is your name in the Book of Life? How wonderful that God inscribes the name in it, of each of His children! It provides His love, mercy, help, and protection to any who choose to live by it. It is those commandments for all to repent and forsake their sins, that gives eternal life to all that do.
Many claim to be in God’s book without a life of holiness. They often depend on their adherence to a form of religion. But a form of religion is merely a “self righteousness covering” over self and sin. In effect, “playing church.” Good deeds are never a deliverance from sin, which the Book of Life requires. If our good deeds could save us, then would Jesus’s sacrifice be in vain. All at birth are written in God’s Book, because all are born in innocence. It is when one gets understanding, and chooses not to agree with all of God’s Book, that their name is blotted out of it.
Is your name written in the Book of Life? It can be!
