Sunday Morning Podcast January 15, 2017. Bro. Oluwole Josiah.
12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
Salvation is a free gift, free from sin, and a walk with God. It is a walk so important, that when God decided to send man, it was with the cleanest. Jesus, the most precious of all heaven was sacrificed for you and I. The purpose was to set man free from their many struggles from sin. Man has tried, but couldn’t until Jesus came. We were, or are, possessed with a spirit of disobedience, provoking and being an offence to God, blaspheming Him by our life. Reading God’s word, one can see how God’s mercy caused Him to send Jesus, to take the judgement that we deserved. God delayed His penalty, to give us a chance through the blood of His Son. Jesus suffered the agony of hell, so we could be delivered from it. The moment you lose the appreciation of your Salvation, will be the moment you lose it. This is why it is so important that you “work out your salvation”…running the race to the end.
Many have gloriously testified of Salvation, but it is only those who continue to the end, that actually win the race. You must continue to rejoice until the end, when the fullness of joy can then be realized. In Salvation, you have a responsibility to work it out, pay attention, and not be careless. You must put some real thought into it. Otherwise you will lose it all. Be sure to examine yourself, to be sure you are still standing, and not become of those who ultimately backslide. For God instructs us to “work out” our Salvation, to reach our goal. We need to go deeper with God. The deeper we go, the deeper we still need to go. You then will want more and more of Him. Our enemy, Satan, is ready to steal our life with Christ. But Satan has no power unless we quit holding onto Christ and the cross. We need to use the spiritual exhortations found in 2 Peter 1:1-8, so we won’t lose what God has given us. 2 Corinthians 2:11 Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices. We want to prosper to be stable, move forward, grow in godliness, and make it to the end. Our life then will fully glorify God.
Work out your Salvation to run and win the race.
