God wants us to grow strong and healthy spiritually from His Word.  Growing healthy in His Word gives us a greater understanding of His Will for our lives.  If you focus your mind where you need to, you will grow in His grace and understanding.  Some don’t allow themselves to be instructed properly to correctly understand.  We must put away partaking of only the milk of the Word, and grow to eat the meat to increase understanding.   Otherwise we will never grow past being a baby spiritually.

TEXT: 2 SAMUEL 9:1  And David said, Is there yet any that is left of the house of Saul, that I may shew him kindness for Jonathan’s sake?  King David desired to show mercy to a family member of King Saul’s offspring for the sake of his friend Jonathan; this is even though King Saul had been an enemy seeking to kill David. This is also as Christ is toward each of us; showing mercy in spite of our sinful condition before Salvation.  What terrible things of sin we all have done, yet God wants to show His love, mercy and compassion toward us!  And Jonathan, Saul’s son, had a son that was lame of his feet. He was five years old when the tidings came of Saul and Jonathan out of Jezreel, and his nurse took him up, and fled: and it came to pass, as she made haste to flee, that he fell, and became lame.  And his name was Mephibosheth.  2 Samuel 4:4  What caused Mephibosheth to be lame?  The boy had fallen, and became crippled; then he was mocked his whole life for it.  He was supposed to have been well cared for. But because of fear and lack of strength by the woman, the child fell and was then lame for life.

Mephibosheth felt worthless in his condition.  He didn’t have confidence, feel qualified or good enough, knowing what his grandfather the king had done to King David.  Still King David was given a heart from God to show mercy. Today many have past “injuries” physically, emotionally, rejections, etc., that can seem to hinder from receiving from the grace and mercy of God.  But just as King David showed mercy,  so even more does Christ with Salvation, for the lowly condition of sin that each of us are found in.  All of us must humbly recognize our condition, for none of us are worthy without God to “eat” at His table.   Mephibosheth here, was given the honor of sitting at King David’s table as family, and likewise Christ blesses us with that same privilege spiritually, if we humble ourselves!   No matter what the scars are emotionally that we come from, Christ heals and nourishes all that repent and forsake their way!  All those are then served the same spiritual nourishment and blessings at His table.

God wants you to value His table!  The price has mercifully been paid for you to feast and partake with Him!
