TEXT: EZEKIEL 37:1-8
1 The hand of the LORD was upon me, and carried me out in the spirit of the LORD, and set me down in the midst of the valley which was full of bones,
2 And caused me to pass by them round about: and, behold, there were very many in the open valley; and, lo, they were very dry.
3 And he said unto me, Son of man, can these bones live? And I answered, O Lord GOD, thou knowest.
4 Again he said unto me, Prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of the LORD.
5 Thus saith the Lord GOD unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live:
6 And I will lay sinews upon you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and ye shall live; and ye shall know that I am the LORD.
7 So I prophesied as I was commanded: and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and behold a shaking, and the bones came together, bone to his bone.
8 And when I beheld, lo, the sinews and the flesh came up upon them, and the skin covered them above: but there was no breath in them.

The Valley of the Dry Bones. A spiritual condition we have all had, past or present. The scripture here was all about God bringing Israel back to Him, for they had been captive in a foreign land. It also speaks about the restoration and returning of them to Zion. The Lord speaks about Zion and it’s freedom ‘from’ their condition here, which is likened to sin. “The valley of dry bones” illustrates their scattered condition of their place in Babylon. “Dry bones,” or a skeleton, cannot move without a body. A body cannot move without a skeleton. It is when it all comes together …which makes it all able to work. The dry bones here, belonged to Israel. Today those spiritual dry bones belong to God’s people when they are scattered from being a whole body. God wants to gather us. He wants to add to our spiritual dry bones. For without God you are disconnected.
Sin is what disconnects us from God’s breath of life. Without God we can know what is right, but yet not able to live it. Sin is not about having human failings, but about making choices against moral principals. For sin is a conscious choice, and not a “misjudgment.” If we know something is an offense to God, we must live above it to keep from sin. But to live above sin, we must also have “the breath of God,” which comes when He adds us to His body. God has always had a spiritual body, which is a gathering of all His children (that have been scattered), into His unified people. But if His children once again allow the deterioration and separation of sin, they will once again become scattered as dry bones, into a symbolic place, typified as Babylon. Babylon means “confusion.” Each needs to understand (or be accountable), and acknowledge their condition so God can reach them. Don’t treat the gathering of God’s people to be non important. The world around us scatters with it’s distractions, but God is calling each soul out from that condition to be gathered to Him. He wants us all to be delivered out of sin, have the life of His breath, and to be gathered into His holy ways. Dead to sin, but alive in Jesus Christ. “Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 6:11
A way to ensure this, is to make our daily decisions and choices with God in mind. We will all be tempted, but with God in mind we have access to His power over it. When God reproves us, we need to accept it for instruction to keep free from sin. 5 “…….. My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him: 6 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. Romans 12: 5b, 6 The test comes when we are tempted to walk away from correction. True happiness will only come when we are willingly submitted to God’s correction, for it brings a peace not found in the scattering of self centeredness. Self; The scattering of dry bones, that will not possess God’s breath of life, and not be drawn into the wholeness of God’s body, His Church. We need to want God to put us back together, to be a part of His Body Where are you?
