TEXT: ISAIAH 55:1-3

1 Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.

2 Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness.

3 Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.

How can you buy without money, ..water for your soul?  Daily we spend a lot for daily needs, but it never satisfies the soul.  Is your soul thirsty?  Stay that way to get your thirst satisfied from heaven.  The one who satisfies the soul is still Jesus Christ.  We must always keep Christ as our focal point.  He will then keep us in His will, and satisfy our thirst.  If you allow your thirst to be for something else, that’s where your focus will be.  Christ’s mercy won’t “just happen,” …if we are not focusing on Him.  For His thoughts and ways are not our thoughts and ways.   He wants us to come to Him thirsty and hungry, seeking for our need of spiritual water.

There is nothing we can exchange for this spiritual water.  Literal money, or treasures cannot buy everlasting water.  For earthly goods, are of no spiritual value!  Too many assume the world’s earthly “treasures” are!  But there’s ‘nothing’ we can give God that will obtain and quench our soul thirst.  Nothing.  For nothing humanly can buy an eternal soul, and fulfill it’s needs.   Many things may trigger us to try to purchase with our self, this everlasting treasure.  But all we have to offer is our righteousness.  And our righteousness are as filthy rags! (But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; ………..”, Isaiah 64:6 a).  In our literal bodies, we all have a need of natural water to survive.  And so it is also with our soul.  For our spiritual bodies also can become dehydrated and desperate for lack of spiritual water.

We need to remain thirsty for Jesus!  If you start to become thirsty for the world, and things of the flesh, that is what you will seek after.  Whatever you go after, you will be thirsty for it. But we must seek to be thirsty only for Christ!  Only the Messiah can solve and satisfy every problem and longing!  If we allow our self to thirst after something else, that will dominate.   All we have to offer other souls, ..is the water God has given us.  If there is sin in our heart, we have nothing to offer them!  But Christ can offer the mercy of His Salvation, to put in the empty cup of the repenting soul.  Sometimes it’s hard to give up the fleshly cravings of the “heart cup,” but it’s necessary, by faith to allow God to fill us with Himself instead, and the everlasting water of His covenant.  Only God can quench the thirst of your soul for His holiness.  Draw nigh to Him, and He will draw nigh to you with His living water.

Are You Still Thirsty For Christ?
