TEXT: 2 TIMOTHY 4:1-4
1 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;
2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
Before Paul left this world, this was his exhortation to the young man, Timothy. To preach fearlessly the Word, and warning of people that would oppose and challenge him. Exhortations to Timothy were to learn of God’s word and to keep it hidden in his heart. To be “instant in season” knowing the scriptures wherewith you teach from. To have a holy testimony that others can learn and live from. For too many think they already have sufficient knowledge. Too many are “itching” or too eager to believe what the flesh would instead deceive them in. In error, some would teach that since we are all saved by grace, that same grace covers our continuing daily sins. God forbid that we think sin is acceptable in the life of a Christian! “What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?” Romans 6:1,2
No one has an excuse! God deals with all men with His grace. For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men. Titus 2:11 All are unworthy of God’s grace, and some are skeptical of it because God’s grace is hard to comprehend. Grace is more than “good” feelings, joining church, etc., but it is instead the power to deliver from sin. To have victory in Christ ..everyday without sin. It is the gift of God’s grace that no matter how deep in sin we are, He will forgive and deliver us. God’s grace comes to heal, no matter what your need is! You need His grace, because you cannot live righteous without it. It is because of God’s grace, that you no longer have to accept a life with sin in your heart. For to sin, is to be of the devil. “He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. 1 John 3:8,9
It is a fable to declare one a sinning Christian, for there is no such thing!
