TEXT: MATTHEW 7:24-25
24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.
Here, Jesus spoke to an audience not just of the world, but also to those seeming to be following Him. So this a spiritual message Jesus taught here for our understanding. Everyone is founded upon some foundation. Jesus talked also about man building upon the sand, and how it fell because it had no foundation. Matthew 7:26,27 26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: 27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it. Sometimes we think we are founded, but it is when the storms of our life come, that you find out whether you have dug deep enough or not. Spiritual sand, earth, and pits will be a part of a life not built upon the rock foundation of Christ. Jesus taught that we need to dig deeper to withstand those storms. Life brings us a lot of storms that are difficult. Heartache, death, problems with children, gangs, crime, etc. Sadly, many go through these “storms” without the Rock Jesus Christ.
When adversity comes and shakes us, we then will discover what we really have “built with.“ We cannot be founded upon the Rock Christ, if we choose to keep “the sand” of our own ways and weaknesses to build our life with; for we will then spiritually be destroyed when the extreme storms of our life come. We cannot expect that Jesus the Rock will adjust to us, …we must adjust to Him. He only, is a firm foundation that will withstand against the storms of sin. We can’t rely on someone else’s experience. For if they fall, we will also! All must personally find their place solidly on the Rock Jesus to endure. For God’s children will all face great opposition to their Salvation. “Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.” 2 Timothy 3:12 You must dig deep to be anchored in Christ! You must ‘set aside’ your will and ways of the flesh, …to have a firm foundation in God’s will and ways. You won’t be spiritually founded and established in a sin free life any other way.
Have you dug down deep in your soul and anchored to the Rock Jesus? The storms of life will overwhelm you otherwise!
