TEXT:LUKE 15:11-13, 17-20

11 And he said, A certain man had two sons:

12 And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living.

13 And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living.

17 And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father’s have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!

18 I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee,

19 And am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants.

20 And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.

The father was consistent, and the son had learned what it was to live in his father’s house, with love and care.  But the son decided to leave, just as some today decide to leave Salvation and what God has given them.  Yet the son was still connected to those memories of living in his father’s house.  When God’s children leave and become estranged from God, they still have this same chance to come back to Father’s house, who never changes!  That father never stopped caring and loving his son, just as God never stops loving each of us.  The son’s depraved lost condition mentally could be likened today of those who are despaired and even suicidal.  The son felt so disconnected, and in doubt and anguish over if his father’s love was still there.  Despairing of hope can come to any who think they have gone too far.

There’s either the way of God, or of destruction.  Jesus is the way of God wanting to connect with us.  Satan says you can’t come back, but the mercy of God passes all understanding.  God wants to get souls out of the “hog-pit.”  Jesus will redeem you back!   The enemy wants to lie that there are pleasures that sin can afford.   He doesn’t tell you those pleasures are superficial.  God pulls the cover off so people can see their condition.  Guilt of that is good, because then you can recognize the truth of where you are before God.   Then you can repent so God can restore you.  It is never too late for the sincere repenting heart that desires God.  David the psalmist as king, committed serious sins.  Adultery, and murder are two of them.  Yet because he still had a tender heart that repented, God forgave and restored him. “Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.” Psalms 51:1  In Matthew 26:69-75,  Peter a disciple also denied Jesus three times.  Yet when he repented,  God forgave him,  and used him to minister the gospel afterwards.  There were others also, that betrayed God, and yet God forgave them when they truly repented.  Satan wants people, and even Christians, to feel when they have erred, or actually sinned, that there is no more help.  But God is not willing that any should perish  “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” 2 Peter 3:9   God is a heavenly faithful Father that wants to buy you back!   He doesn’t want to see any lost!

Whatever you’ve done, it’s not too late!  Let the love of God touch your repentant heart!
