TEXT: EZEKIEL 28:1-7 , 20-22

1 The word of the LORD came again unto me, saying,

2 Son of man, say unto the prince of Tyrus, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thine heart is lifted up, and thou hast said, I am a God, I sit in the seat of God, in the midst of the seas; yet thou art a man, and not God, though thou set thine heart as the heart of God:

3 Behold, thou art wiser than Daniel; there is no secret that they can hide from thee:

4 With thy wisdom and with thine understanding thou hast gotten thee riches, and hast gotten gold and silver into thy treasures:

5 By thy great wisdom and by thy traffick hast thou increased thy riches, and thine heart is lifted up because of thy riches:

6 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thou hast set thine heart as the heart of God;

7 Behold, therefore I will bring strangers upon thee, the terrible of the nations: and they shall draw their swords against the beauty of thy wisdom, and they shall defile thy brightness.

20 Again the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

21 Son of man, set thy face against Zidon, and prophesy against it,

22 And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Zidon; and I will be glorified in the midst of thee: and they shall know that I am the LORD,  when I shall have executed judgments in her, and shall be sanctified in her.

The city of Tyrus, was known for their great material wealth, wisdom and importance.  The inhabitants became lifted up in their hearts, thinking themselves as important as God, though they were but mere men.  So God pronounced judgments on the prince of Tyrus, and also Zidon, that they would remember that the glory belonged to the LORD and not men.  In verse 5, God is talking about them having their own wisdom, and not God’s, and in verse 7, how because of that, God will allow them to be defeated by the strangers or enemies in the land.  When God was in Glory lifted up, then Israel was gathered out from in the midst of ..their enemies,.. to keep them safe and secure, by God defeating them.   And God wants this for all of us.  To allow Him to fight our battles, defeating the enemy, keeping us safe and secure in all of our life’s aspects.  To give and keep us in peace.  You can’t be at peace, unless you are first safe and secure!  Keeping connected and attached to the Lord is key.  Even if you are in an environment of this world’s natural unsafe conditions,  God can keep you secure in His peace.  A spiritual freedom comes from the safety, security and peace that is found in God.

“The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me besides the still waters.  Psalms 23:1,2  People are all like sheep, that need a shepherd to keep safe.  God likens His children to sheep that need Him as our Shepherd.  And like sheep, to help keep safe, we must stick close to God and His children, staying together like a herd.   All that want to serve God, are like prey for the predator.  But a predator is not as likely going to be able to harm sheep, that stay together, and with the Shepherd.  Staying connected to the Shepherd Jesus,  will keep us safe and secure, from the predator Satan, that would like to bring us back into the bondage of sin!   The adversary is always present, but God our Shepherd is always stronger.   Nothing can separate us from God our Father, against our own will.   Romans 8: 35-39   But if there is sin in your life, you are living in the presence of a threat.  For the wages of sin, is death,  (Romans 6:23).  There is help and security from out of spiritual threat, …but only through the full repentance of sin.

Are You Safe and Secure?
