TEXT:JOB 31:6 Let me be weighed in an even balance, that God may know mine integrity.
PROVERBS 11:1 A false balance is abomination to the LORD: but a just weight is his delight.
Job suffered in every way, more than is easily imagined. And there might be times today, we also have extreme trials of suffering. God wants us also to have deliverance from our calamities. So as with Job, we would have that ultimate fair and just balance. Job wondered and thought that he must have done something terribly wrong to suffer such agony in every way. Ultimately, Job just wanted to be weighed in a even balance, and judged fairly. “A false balance is abomination to the LORD: but a just weight, is his delight. ” Proverbs 11:1 A false balance is one that is in great opposition to God. Anything other than God that weighs us, is also a false balance, and not of His justice. Whatever is being weighed, is being weighed in a just balance when it is by God’s Word. 5 And when he had opened the third seal, I heard the third beast say, Come and see. And I beheld, and lo a black horse; and he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand. 6 An I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and see thou hurt not the oil and the wind. Revelation 6 These values were understood by the people. This black horse rider is measuring something far more valuable, but not offering the adequate money. But God’s Word will never judge us unfairly. It will always be the needed balance and value. For God is the Author of just weights, and balances. When people don’t accurately measure to the Word of God, the proper balance will not be shown in their lives, and their life will become an abomination to the Lord. If you don’t feed properly on God’s Word you will have a “famine” condition in your heart; and that will bring a slow death spiritually. Just as when a person consistently doesn’t feed properly, as a result they can slowly starve physically.
It was God’s desire that Job would find that spiritual and just balance. He desires that for each of us. For God is the eternal Author that will help souls. A good illustration of balance can be made with a “teeter totter,” which is meant to balance 2 weights, separated by opposite ends. Balance comes from opposite ends, functioning together. In life’s every emotion and action, there is an opposite one. All God’s literal “laws” …have a spiritual point. And all your experiences, past and present, have a balancing one. When you carry your spiritual weights, and also your weights of the world, … through God it can be balanced. If, you put the weights where God would have you to, ..to keep balance. For your balance will be affected by what you make your focal or pivotal point, (or your choices, and philosophies). As God’s children, Jesus is our focal or pivotal point, to give us an eternal and just balance, John 14:6. But ..we must let God examine our hearts and life to have it. “Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,” Hebrews 12:1 The weights of sin have to be repented of and forsaken, to have God’s Word and to have His balance in our heart and life. Then even if we have untold weights coming against us, God will always balance us if we keep obedient to His Word. “Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:29,30 There is rest, to balance out the weights of life, if we give them to Jesus, to obey and learn of Him. God can help us find spiritual balance, …no matter what we have coming against us.
