TEXT: MARK 2:1-5
1 And again he entered into Capernaum after some days; and it was noised that he was in the house.
2 And straightway many were gathered together, insomuch that there was no room to receive them, no, not so much as about the door: and he preached the word unto them.
3 And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four.
4 And when they could not come nigh unto him for the press, they uncovered the roof where he was: and when they had broken it up, they let down the bed wherein the sick of the palsy lay.
5 When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee.
What are you willing to do, to get God’s help? How much we really need God! In these current times this has been proven true, time and again! What part does God want you to make known, that God is in “the house?” How faithful have you been to make sure all around you, or others know that? The word was being preached by Jesus to those inside the house. Then a man sick with the palsy, was brought by 4 on a “bed.” But there was no way to get through the door because of the crowd! But this sick man and the ones bearing him, were determined to get to Jesus, for hope where before there had not been. They actually went on the roof, and uncovered a passage to let him down through. Determination! Desire! And faith, or they wouldn’t have been so purposeful! Resolved to get this sick man to Christ! He needed both healing, and to be saved from his sins! Do you know someone that can’t do for themselves, what you are able to do for them? When this man couldn’t get to Jesus in the customary way, four men helped him in an unconventional way. Sometimes it is necessary to overcome obstacles, in a way not expected, or unheard of. They meant business! Do we mean business? They were willing to carry a burden for this man! To do whatever it took to get him to Jesus! What helped them to figure it out, to make it happen? First, they were not concerned what it looked like to others, or what others would think! Spiritually, today, that is what might prevent us to go to a public altar to get help. We need to be conscious of the enemy’s agenda to hinder us.
Can our life pass that test? It shouldn’t take a tragedy to bring us to God for help. The condition of our heart, should always be an urgency, to do all God would show us. How are you in this moment, right now? Are you urgent about your needs being overcome, or answered? Or is it going to take a tragedy? What would you be willing to do to grow in your experience? It is easy, as with anyone, or anything, to come up with excuses, when faced with daunting challenges. But if you really believe God, that with Him, nothing is impossible, you will do all you can do, of what He ask. What would you be willing to do? We must decrease, so Christ can increase in our life. We must never be satisfied with mere religion, or an experience without the zeal to please God, who has so mercifully saved us. We first, cannot allow sin back in our heart after Christ has delivered us. God’s word says we cannot sin, when His seed is planted in our heart. “Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.” 1 John 3:9 It will take abiding in Jesus, to have access to His overcoming power. Abiding in Christ means we won’t sin! “Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.” 1 John 3:6 Then you will do all God ask. Whatever it takes to bring a soul to Christ!
How Bad Do You Want God’s help? What would you be willing to do, to get it?
