TEXT: REVELATIONS 21:1-2
1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
The City of God, The Bride, that the prophet John saw here, was Heaven, a place we are all hoping to make our home! But if it is ever to be for us, it must start for us here. It must begin with us being made part of The Church while still here on earth. For if She is like this there, She must also be like this here first. Can we still say we find our-self here? This city of God, The Church, high and lifted up, is built on the foundation of Jesus Christ! Yet it is not so high, that we cannot reach up through Jesus’s Blood, and become a part of Her. His Church doesn’t produce offspring that is without His pure and sinless nature. His offspring is made up of The Pure Church of God. May God help us to find ourselves here, and not to be reprobates. And we will find ourselves here, if we are the children of God. Christ did not, and will not, choose a woman that doesn’t share His values, is not pure, and so is not built on His foundation, like unfortunately too many religious “churches” are. All these things of holiness help us to see the city of God, but we ‘now’ also need to see the Church of God. The Church, has the characteristics of a bride arrayed in pure white, waiting for her husband, to become one flesh. The Church is the “Type” or illustration of a spiritual union. This is how Jesus sees “The Church.” The white gown/garment is symbolic of that Pure sinless Church. Too many earthly churches teach that we are still carnal, and cannot live delivered from sin….in their deception. The only way we can be added to The Church, is to be changed out of the sinful garments of self righteousness. We can’t leave with our sins, and be a part of Him. Idolatry is sin. Idolatry is pretty much anything you let get in the way of keeping God ideally first. First in everything!
Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few. Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest. Matthew 9:37,38 There are a lot of people we don’t know about that God wants us to find, for Him. God’s church are not those only found at your worship place locally. Step out of your comfort zone, and invite people you would not expect to listen. The Church must go out to the world, bringing God to where they are. We must be willing to bring them in, to reach them at any cost. Additionally we need to remember that God’s church is any 2 or 3 gathered together in His Name. “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” Matthew 18:20 “And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen. Matthew 28:18-20 “Go and teach all nations.” You can’t teach all nations, unless you go! God’s desire is for all of His children to go out into the world, and bring the Church to them. We have to go out! Often, someone was instrumental in bringing us to God and His Church. God wants to use us this same way. To go make disciples for Him. Are we going out? Are you taking the church with you?
The Church, As The City of God…..
