TEXT: MARK 16:1-6

1 And when the sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him.

2 And very early in the morning the first day of the week, they came unto the sepulchre at the rising of the sun.

3 And they said among themselves, Who shall roll us away the stone from the door of the sepulchre?

4 And when they looked, they saw that the stone was rolled away: for it was very great.

5 And entering into the sepulchre, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, clothed in a long white garment; and they were affrighted.

6 And he saith unto them, Be not affrighted: Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified: he is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him.

Jesus the Son of God had been crucified 2 days before.  The two Marys had come to anoint His body.  In their grief they had not immediately expected Him to not be in the tomb.   Even though He had prophesied this.  If not redeemed, you can be changed this morning!  This was Christ’s purpose!  If you forsake all for Jesus.  Your life will no longer be hopeless.  For without Him, it is hopeless. Christ is the only One that can help!  He is the supernatural intervention that will make the difference!  The outcome will be no more despair…but instead hope!   People go their own way, their own routine, everyday, often wondering, “Is this all it’s about?  Is this all there is?”   Day after day, perhaps enjoying family, some temporal blessings, and yet still perhaps wondering,  “Is there not something more?”   But a new life in Christ is richer!  Jesus died an excruciating death, after being nailed to a cross.  Then He was taken down, wrapped in fine linen, and laid in a new tomb.  A seal had been placed on the stone covering the tomb entrance.  On this third day, the women had planned to anoint Christ’s body with spices.  But instead, the body was gone!  Because of His Resurrection!   Of course the unbelievers had told the lie that the disciples had planned to steal Christ body away, because of His Resurrection prophesy.  If that had happened, the world would not have had Salvation offered to them.  But for our Salvation, Jesus died more than a “simple” death.  He was mocked, falsely witnessed against, brutally beaten with the loss of much blood, spit on, scourged, and ended up hanging from a cross, made from a tree.

Why did the women hasten with spices to anoint the body of Christ?  Because it was normally expected?  No, much more than that!   It was because they loved Him!  They came to visit  the tomb, of what they supposed contained the dead body of Jesus.  They came, because only Jesus had given them satisfaction for all their soul’s deepest needs!   A satisfaction that is real!  Will you allow Jesus to fulfill your needs?  If you do, it will be because you believe He is the answer!   If not, it will be because of your unbelief in Him, and belief instead in your fleshly ideas, that give no lasting hope.  Hope is only found in Salvation!  It is prudent if we remember, that even though Jesus can and will save us while here on earth, we are not fully saved, until we have finished this spiritual race.  Until we have endured unto the end.  (“But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.”  Matthew 24:13)

Will you believe a risen Christ?   God wants to ignite the little flame of faith that all mankind is given.  If you find Christ, He will satisfy all your needs!  Needs that individually all humans have.  Jesus came to satisfy them all!   Christ’s resurrection only means something, if you also receive from Him, the life He offers to all.   And if you have that gift of life, ….let others know!   Jesus is the fulfillment of any needs, that any will have.  What is your greatest need this morning?  We need to each humbly acknowledge, that we all have many.  There is great power in being humble.  Power in a willingness to be wrong. If you “have” to be right, you limit the power of Christ in your life.  Limited by your choice.  Will you choose to allow Jesus to fulfill all your deepest needs?

What Is Your Greatest Need?  Will You Believe in A Risen Christ to Fulfill Them?
