TEXT: MATTHEW 17:1-9
1 And after six days, Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart,
2 And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light.
3 And behold, there appeared unto them Moses, and Elias talking with him.
4 Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.
5 While he yet spake, behold a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.
6 And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were sore afraid.
7 And Jesus came and touched them, and said Arise, and be not afraid.
8 And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, save Jesus only.
9 And as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying Tell the vision to no man, until the Son of man be risen again from the dead.
We need to have a personal experience with Jesus Christ! Personally hearing from heaven! We all, (that came to Christ,) came from different paths of life. But all have in common that they were saved from sin. And no matter if small, or great the trespass, sin is still sin. And ..destruction is always the result. All will start out, with a child-like faith. But at some point, we become adult in our faith, if we are to grow. Some might have had a faith up bringing. At some point, tho, they cannot depend on the upbringing for their own personal experience. Because often it can be harder for the one raised religiously, to separate that ingrained teaching, to a realization on their own, of their personal need. They then, must get it directly from God. God is faithful to capture your attention at a point of time, when you most realize your great need for Him, and not mere teaching of Him. Not mere religious traditions. But instead to bring to us, a conversion, ..a complete transformation.
A personal experience comes from being “born again!” Jesus said,“Verily, verily I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” John 3:1 A rebirth! The difference in a mere mental knowledge, discipline, change, than of repentance, a full surrender of your will, …with a complete, worshipful adoration at the “feet of Christ.” You can be of a mind and desire to do right, but not really know the spiritual aspect, as opposed to tradition. “But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.” Psalms 1:2 Why? Because he’s been converted..changed and addicted to God’s Will! “And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. Psalms 1:3 The tree doesn’t grow without the seed being planted. And it then needs to be tended, watered, nourished, otherwise it cannot thrive. It’s personal. A complete conversion!
