TEXT JOHN 1:1-5
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
In the beginning was the Word. The Word is Christ. And God sent Him as a Savior, into the world. The Advent of Christ! The advent is the beginning. Before the beginning…there was before. And then there was the beginning. “The Word” has a rich meaning in the bible. It means many things, but it means reason, action, something to do with the mind, something to do with the Creator, logical discourse, as in the singular mind of God which set all things in motion. Why is it singular? Because there is no other that set all things, and continues to set all things in motion. God is still not done, but still creating. He didn’t finish! We can be thankful that God wasn’t finished with our creation, before the day we were born in our physical body. And He continues to create, through the gospel of Jesus Christ! Where there was death and darkness, God said, “let there be light!” And there was light! Which is also saying, “let there be something.” In Genesis 1: 3,6,9,11,14,20,24,26, and 29, are the words, “And God said.” In the beginning, “And God said,” …..and the word for “God said,” is just like the meaning of “The Word”, (in the Greek and the Hebrew). When God says something….He’s not just taking up time. We need to express ourselves verbally to get our thoughts out. Some of us talk a lot, that’s just how we think. Others have difficulty getting words out. So we sometimes with our words have confusion. But when God says something, it has a particular meaning. So when “God says,” what follows is the Word of God. When God says “Let there be light,” it is then “I command, Let there be light!” As then, and now, our life was full of darkness, and without form. And now God says, “Let there be light! When He awakened “something” from our nothing!” “Let there be something out of nothing”….when it is physically impossible to create something out of nothing! Only God can do that for each one of us! It runs counter to what human knowledge can comprehend. And just as God moved on the face of the waters and the nothing of darkness, so He also moved on our nothingness, and created something! I believe many things, it’s how I mentally function in this world. One day, I got past even belief, but to a place, to an experience that is past “knowing.” We have to get to a place, we have to get beyond our likes, not just believe, but to be zealous for God, and not as a lukewarm church, which is a spiritual illness. To know Christ. When Jesus, He is the Word, … is also this kind of meaning as “The Word.” Before there was anything, Jesus was there, with God, and The Spirit. This presence, this being, was before the beginning. Before ,During, and After. The Being….God is the Being, ..Before there was anything…there was “being.” Always there has been a …”Before, During, and After.” “Being” brings into existence, what God brought into the universe. Before as now, of ourselves, we are nothing, but became as a being.”when God said.” God said, :let there be something, when there was nothing! Spiritually, before God moved on the face of our waters, our life was a spiritual darkness, without form, and deep. And this morning if God has moved upon your darkness, God says, “I command there be light.” So where there was nothing before, God created something in you! He awakened something in you…but no language can explain what God did! It is very difficult to comprehend God creating something from nothing! For the concept is impossible in our universe! Something out of nothing!
“In him was life; and the light was the life of men.” John 1:4 God spake from the mind of God into being. There is nothing created, that is not created by God. Nothing has value without God. But the world today doesn’t see it that way. “..The Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us,..” (verse 14). “And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living soul.” Genesis 2:7 Man first was just a body, until God breathed into him, a living soul. In a way Jesus comes as a body, and God placed Himself into the body. For Jesus lived in the image of God. God being in a fleshly body, subject as man, also subject to to its limitations. And God within Jesus, walked among men. So men would be not content to be just a “sinner that believes,” without power over sin completely. But God gave His power through Jesus, for us to follow Him even now, 2000 years later. No other than Jesus’s writings of words, have ever had this kind of impact on men and women. The Word became and becomes flesh, incarnate, dwelling in a body just like us. This day for you, …is when you come to Christ. Things then become different. That changed without our involvement at all! Things changed because of God! Just as everything was created new, it happens in every redeemed soul! Everything becomes awake to newness! Living now a good life in God! The Word was made flesh, and not “simply believing.” The phenomenal word, is not just a word! Close enough, is not good enough. But only a life in Him! Any then are more likely to backslide by “just believing.” God wants a living being that continues ! It can only happen when Jesus becomes flesh within you. It is backsliding when only believing, (devils also believe and tremble, James 2:19), which does not consist of a sanctified church. The church is activated by more than just believing, but within the existence of life. “And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three, but the greatest of these is charity. 1 Corinthians 13:13 Must have the greatest of all gifts….love. If not, you cannot have the nature of God. . God came before, then He began. and now is “during,” and not enduring us. The world, and you, will end up badly unless Jesus comes to live within us. That’s why Jesus came, to become available. Before, during, and after. Then our speech, friends, etc. will completely change our “drama” of life! To a place you never knew, to a people also changed by God’s existence, now in their heart. God introduces us to an experience, to be part of Him. Not that you merely believe in Him, but is He your Savior? A part of your being? When Christ returns, He will ask each of us, “What did you do with what I gave you?” If you buried the talents He gave you, you will be eternally lost, ( Matthew 25:24-30). ” And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. ( Matthew 7:23 ) Satan destroys, God creates. He breathed into man a living soul! So all things are now different! Not living just like you always have, but as a new creature! Before, during, and after! No greater power or happiness. No greater advent than that of Jesus Christ! God says I desire to create, the flesh desires to destroy. When we are willing to give up whatever we are holding onto, then Jesus can change our “drama.”
Before, During, and After….
