Sometimes the purpose of our life has slipped out. People start losing their relevance to a role that they used to fill but is not there anymore. You must pull yourself through that time. People have sometimes lost their focus and their zeal for life a bit. It doesn’t mean they are in a worse shape spiritually. We must get our balance on where we are in life. We must reestablish our purpose in the kingdom of God. Sometimes it takes some time getting hold of the mind of God. If we get wrapped up too much in the distractions we will have a hard time pulling out of it.

Our purpose in Christ is something we must push through
. There’s nothing more encouraging, strengthening, sustaining, and overcoming than having and working through the purpose with Christ. We have to know or feel or associate with a connected worthwhile purpose. We don’t want any guesswork about what our purpose is and if we are fulfilling it.

We need to have a mind of what we are working for in the gospel. The great price that the Lord paid, doesn’t allow us to stand still. We must stir one another, regardless of the issues of life and how they may go on without us. Children may go on and not follow God. Parents may go off the scene of action.

“He spake also this parable; A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came and sought fruit thereon, and found none. Then said he unto the dresser of his vineyard, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down; why cumbereth it the ground? And he answering said unto him, Lord, let it alone this year also, till I shall dig about it, and dung it: And if it bear fruit, well: and if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down.” Luke 13: 6-9

So often the Lord emphasized about bearing more fruit. He spoke about trees of righteousness. The Lord really wants fruit in a number of ways. We all have different gifts and abilities and they are all important. If you are saved, your labor in the gospel is important. You should take personal responsibility and work through any difficulties to overcome them.

“Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds. Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin.” Heb 12:1-4

The expression about being compassed with a great cloud of witnesses is taught for holding on through difficulties. It is about troubles, crosses, and resisting the contradictions of sinners. These things can be very discouraging, so he brings the thought of weights that beset us. There is no greater weight than the griefs of life that rest on our heart. What is the sin that so easily besets us? It is the discouraging things that pull us down. It is about the reality about how difficult these things are. He is exhorting them that Christians can keep on going and keep their purpose.

Our society has the most putrid of sin and the most radical of religion. It is not only about us in our age group. If we don’t set a good example, what are we showing to the children after us? God’s people will shine during these times, but we must step up to the plate and get some batting practice. We must take it as a personal calling.
