worry

One thing that hinders thanksgiving is to doubt what God can do in a hard trial.

And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear. Isaiah 65:24

We need to remember that God has the end already planned before we go into every situation.

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Jeremiah 29:11

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28

Do we believe this when we are in the middle of a hard trial? When doubt comes in, worry comes with it. When you worry, you are not going to be thankful. While you are worrying, thanksgiving is not proceeding out of you. There is doubt, worry, and trouble, but not thanksgiving.

Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice. Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand. Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. Philippians 4:4-6

If you are rejoicing, it will not be hard to give thanks. Be careful for nothing means – don’t worry about anything. The enemy brings worry, doubt and fear. But God says; fear not and don’t worry but come boldly to the throne of grace.
