Salvation is a wonderful, precious gift. We need to guard and cherish it. Jesus told the apostles to watch and pray so they didn’t enter into temptation. We work must at our salvation and can’t be ambivalent about it. It’s worth working to keep it. There were about 600 statutes and laws that the Israelites had to keep. We must keep and do, not just hear.

Leviticus 25:18 Wherefore ye shall do my statutes, and keep my judgments, and do them; and ye shall dwell…in safety.

His commandments are not grievous! We’re accountable to keep the commandments and do them. Are we only choosing to keep some of the commandments? They are not just for those who lived long ago.

I John 5:3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

We can’t hear only. We have to do what the word says. Scriptures are a book of wisdom for instruction in righteousness.

Philippians 4:9 Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

The scriptures are life to us. It requires effort to keep them. God gave us a mind to think and muscles to move.

Proverbs 4:20-22 My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.

We need to keep ourselves pure in our choices. There are two forces working on us. The devil isn’t happy to leave us alone.

I Timothy 5:22 Lay hands suddenly on no man, neither be partaker of other men’s sins: keep thyself pure.

We are responsible to keep ourselves unspotted by the world. We have to work at love. The devil fights us to show love to each other and working at our relationships with husband, wife, and family.

James 1:27 Pure religion and undefiled before God…to keep himself unspotted from the world.

We need to be wrapped in the love of God. The devil will go after us to tear us down like the little foxes tear down vines.

Jude: 21 Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.

We have a duty to walk in meekness, forbearance, and endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

Ephesians 4:1-3 I…beseech you…walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, with all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

We need to have the mind of Christ to keep unity.

Philippians 2:5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

We must stand fast in one Spirit and mind, striving together for the faith of the gospel.

Philippians 1:27 Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;

We need to have no division but to be perfectly joined together in the same mind and judgment. We can do this with the mind of Christ. We must strive together to keep the unity of the Spirit. It doesn’t come naturally but we work things out. Unity means we have real love, compassion, and that we care about each other. When one has a heartache, we all share a tear.

I Corinthians 1:10 Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.

I Corinthians 12:25-26 That there should be no schism in the body…members should have the same care one for another. And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all…rejoice with it.

Jesus said to love our neighbor as ourselves. Loving one another and your neighbor as yourself fulfills the law of Christ.

Galatians 6:2 Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.
