Around the Church of God we may sometimes take the subject of repentance for granted, but it is of crucial importance. Modern day religion doesn’t even really think of it, in the true definition. Repentance is a real turning, a definite break from sin, a real commitment to God, and a real brokenness of heart. Even after we have been saved, there will be things God shows us that we need to grow in or change: and with an earnest heart, we need to take care of it right away.
To enter into, and forward in the things of God, we first need to have a contrite and repentant heart. It is vital to have humility working in our lives. If your will or attitude is not broken, you will not see the need to take instruction, as God ministers unto you his word. In Psa 34:18 “ The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.” We see here a definition of what God expects, for Him to be able to listen, when we repent.
