It’s important to have the Holy Spirit with us when we’re saved, then we need the Spirit in us to cleanse our temple. Romans 8:26-27 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which […]
If we refuse instruction, it means we despise our own soul. From the beginning God has used man to teach the people. Proverbs 15:31-33 The ear that heareth the reproof of life abideth among the wise. He that refuseth instruction despiseth his own soul: but he that heareth reproof getteth understanding. The fear of the […]
We have an enemy that is there 24/7 and he is never a friend, but is always an adversary. I Peter 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
When the scripture says “serve God acceptably,” that means there is an unacceptable way. Hebrews 12:28-29 Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear: For our God is a consuming fire. We must have to have a holy heart […]
Holy: dedicated, consecrated, pure, sinless, separated from sin I Peter 1:15-16 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy. Conversation in this scripture means our everyday living or conduct. Holiness is a positive action […]
There are some things that the love of God is not. The love of God does not rejoice in iniquity. I Corinthians 13:6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; If someone is happy in their sin, they do not have the love of God because the love of God does not rejoice […]
Ezekiel 14:13 KJV Son of man, when the land sinneth against me by trespassing grievously, then will I stretch out mine hand upon it, and will break the staff of the bread thereof, and will send famine upon it, and will cut off man and beast from it:
Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. 1 John 3:4
What does the word transgression mean? It means violation; lawlessness; overstep or break a law; go over the limit. If you drive faster than the speed limit, you are transgressing the speed limit law. God has laws, and has set limits. In the Old Testament, the commandments were carved in stone; “Thou shalt” and “Thou shalt not…” In the New Testament, the commandments are written on the fleshly tables of our heart. It is a desire of the heart because we love God. It is the law of love. When we are saved and sanctified, we no longer have a desire to do the things that God is displeased with. Going against what we personally know the bible teaches, is sin.
And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years. When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole? The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me. Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk. And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath. The Jews therefore said unto him that was cured, It is the sabbath day: it is not lawful for thee to carry thy bed. He answered them, He that made me whole, the same said unto me, Take up thy bed, and walk. Then asked they him, What man is that which said unto thee, Take up thy bed, and walk? And he that was healed wist not who it was: for Jesus had conveyed himself away, a multitude being in that place. Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee. The man departed, and told the Jews that it was Jesus, which had made him whole. John 5:5-15
We have all acted inappropriately in our lives, doing things we know we shouldn’t have done. We saw the ill effects of our decisions and actions and swore we would not let it happen again, but it did. What is this weakness, this inclination to do wrong? This is the inbred bane of mankind – this is SIN.
