“My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.” I John 3:18
Sanctification is important so we can have the power to stay saved. God created Adam and Eve in his image, so they started with a pure heart. The difference between people and angels is that angels don’t have any choice. They always do God’s will. God created the devil (Isaiah 45:7) to test if people […]
“Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.” John 16:13
“They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.” John 17:16-17
And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness. 2 Thessalonians 2:8-12
How important is it for us to love the truth? It is our salvation. If we don’t love the truth, we will believe a lie. A delusion is a false belief; It is a persistent belief of something that is not substantiated; It is misleading. Many people believe that they have to sin everyday, that there is no way to live without sinning. They believe a lie – they don’t love the truth. If we don’t love the truth we will be lost. God will send a strong delusion to us. We will believe a lie.
And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. Matthew 24:4-5
What does the word deceive mean? It means to believe what is not true, to be mislead. Before I came to the Church of God, and got saved, I was deceived. I believed that if I sinned, I would still go to heaven. I listened to the minister of the church that I attended and believed what he said. I didn’t check what he said against what the Bible taught. After I began to study the word of God, I found out that some of the things I had been taught were not in the Bible.
Sinners and Saints are on two different roads and headed in two different directions. They are as opposite as black and white. If you mix black and white you come up with gray. The word of God tells us that God’s will is that we are white:
“wash me and I shall be whiter than snow.” Ps. 51:7
“though your sins be as scarlet they shall be white as snow.” Isaiah 1:18
I am not ashamed of the gospel,
the gospel of Jesus Christ;
No I am not ashamed to be counted;
But I’m willing to give my life;
See I’m ready to be all He wants me to be,
give up the wrong for the right:
No I am not ashamed of gospel of Jesus Christ!
THIS IS A SONG that is sung by our choir. This same testimony was testified of the apostle Paul:
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ;…”
He gives his reason in this same verse:
“for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first and also to the Greek.” (Romans 1:16)
“I cried unto God with my voice, even unto God with my voice; and he gave ear unto me. In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord: my sore ran in the night, and ceased not: my soul refused to be comforted. I remembered God, and was troubled: I complained, and my spirit was overwhelmed. Thou holdest mine eyes waking: I am so troubled that I cannot speak. I have considered the days of old, the years of ancient times. I call to rememberance my song in the night: I commune with mine own heart: and my spirit made a diligent search.” Psa 77:1-6
If you have ever had trust undermined, you understand what the scripture writer is talking about. He is speaking about a situation when he doesn’t know what to do. He asks, “Who do I trust?” We should commune with our own heart. We need to do some diligent searching. What does it mean to trust in God? How do you know who to trust?
Repentance is needed even from religious notions. When Christ came, he gave us the ability to know him personally so we really could obtain and keep salvation. Idols are something that are not God, but that selfish minded people worship because the idol will not hold them accountable to truth. People often treat God as if he were just a stone statue, or like another person. They think that their relationship with God can be like it is with an idol or person: “out of sight, out of mind”; that God is not omnipotent or all seeing and knowing.
