Psalm 139:1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,23,24 There are attributes that are unique to God. He searches, reveals, repairs, and comforts.
Luke 10:25,26,27,28,29 This wasn’t just a new teaching of Jesus. It was understood by all. When God challenges me do I try to justify myself? Do I present an excuse of why I can’t do something? The man answered the question correctly, but he had an excuse.
“Search me” means daily. Am I willing to address what God shows me? Am I willing to look beyond what I see?
If I am not successful in some area or in my first attempt, that doesn’t mean I can use my failure as an excuse to not do what God asks me to do.
I see people through my biases - not the way God sees them. Their true need may not be obvious or convenient.
Luke 10:30,31,32,33,34,35,36,37 The individuals saw the man on the side of the road, but they didn’t see him correctly. Maybe they didn’t want to be rendered unclean, were busy, or had other valid reasons to make the decision not to help him. It’s easy to find fault when reading the story but I am also busy and have daily priorities. There are times when I also must make a decision on whether I should engage another person.
Luke 10:40 Martha could only see what needed to be done. Jesus saw the situation differently.
Romans 10:1 Without a burden I am just living life. I can ask God to help me have a greater burden.
Am I self-absorbed? Do I have a burden for souls? Do I see my neighbor?
