Healing Our Hurts
We all have been hurt by someone. Have I been taking hurts out on something or someone else? Having I been “kicking a cat?” Hurt people hurt people.
Matthew 18:21,22,23,24,25,26,27,28,29,20,31,32,33,34,35 Jesus said,“Peter you’re thinking too small,” then went on to explain the Kingdom of Heaven is just like an earthly kingdom with the story of the debtor.
How do I release hurt? It can be overwhelming.
Recognize that I am carrying hurt
If the people around me are uneasy, I am probably carrying hurt that will hurt others.
1 Peter 3:8,9,10,11,12 “To sum up what I said, have good relationships so your prayers are not hindered. Be agreeable. Don’t be at war with someone. Be sympathetic. Be willing to see things from someone else’s view. Be courteous and humble. Replace retaliation with blessing.” Seek and ensue peace means I am diligently searching for a way to make peace in a situation.
Let go of hurt and allow God to be the judge
Genesis 50:16,17,18,19,20,21 Joseph had a reason to be hurt. But he let God be the judge.
If I am bitter, I am hurt and driven by my situation. Better means I have released my hurt.
1 Peter 2:23 Jesus could have meted justice at the cross. He was hurt and reviled, but he suffered and didn't threaten. If He had judged, He would not have done the will of God. Jesus left His case in the hands of God, who always judges fairly. Humans do not always judge fairly, especially if we’ve hurt. That drives our actions.
Sometimes it’s easy to hold on to small hurts during the day. Let them go!
Psalms 54:1,2,3,4,5,6,7 In Psalms, David tells God about his hurts. He might sound bitter or passionate at times, but he always concludes that God knows best.
Who do I talk to when I am hurt? Myself in my head, someone else, everyone else, God? Make your complaint to God!

Romans 12:9,10,11,12,13,14,15,16,17,18 Bless the person who causes you hurt. It’s very difficult to live peaceably with others if I am carrying a lot of hurt. It will affect everyone around me.
I cannot guarantee peace with everyone, but I must do my best to be at peace.
Is what I am doing to others bringing the light of God to the world? The Gospel makes a difference. It’s active and working. This allows me to show healing to others.
What am I doing with my hurt?
