The Advent of Christ: The Gospel is Born
Luke 1:35 The birth of Jesus is the birth of the gospel. Literally, this means “good news.”
How do we know that Jesus is the son of God. He is a historic figure. He was real.
It’s easier to believe in God in heaven as the Israelites understood it. When God came to earth he came as a person, Jesus.
If Jesus is not the son of God, there is no point in assembling to speak about him. If he’s just a historic figure.
If I accept the possibility that Jesus is the Son of God, I can then consider the Gospel (The Good News).
What does the Bible claim about Jesus.
What is the Gospel?
Matthew 4:23
Mark 16:15
The gospel is:
- message of good news.
- anticipation of positive things yet to come.
- a collection of teachings.
- a record.
Other religious teachings and spiritual leaders or prophets also offered a record. The teachings of Jesus demand a change.
Genesis 1:1 In the beginning, there was an eternal being (the Creator) that survives before and after the temporal world. This Creator desires to make Himself known to His creation.
Humans tend to rebel against the Creator and yield to iniquity. My personal actions and behavior determine my final destination. If God were to disregard consequences for unchanged behavior, He would be telling a lie. It grieves God when He can’t take us to His heaven but He is governed by His own laws. All of humankind need a Savior.
Luke 2:14 On Christmas, this Savior (the Gospel) was born.
