1 Peter 3:10,11,12

Daniel was a man of prayer. He was a prayer warrior. He was favored by God because he put Him first, even at his own expense.

The 12-chapter book of Daniel contains dream interpretation, prophesies, and prayers. He and three other young men were taken captive from Judah and brought to Babylon. While here, they chose to be good citizens and live well for God in a godless place. This gained them respect and favor from the king. A good moral compass and hard work will always bring positive results, whether one is saved or not.

What is prayer?

  • Talking to God.
  • Listening to God.

How is my life affected by prayer?

  • Strengthened
  • Healing body and mind
  • A way is provided
  • Cheered
  • Sins taken away
  • Given peace

A lifelong skill

Daniel 2:17,18 Daniel was experienced in prayer from a young age.

Daniel 6:10

This story is about 70 years of Daniel’s life in Babylon, starting at age 10. Prayer was the one consistent thing. Make it a habit when you are young!

Learn to pray with others

Matthew 6:5,6 There are times to pray privately.

There are times we need to pray with others. In the most important moment in Daniel’s life - the king threatened his life - he prayed together with friends. Some things are too important to pray alone.

Examine my prayers

How I pray shows what I think of God.

Daniel 2:19,20,21,22,23

Is my prayer a shopping list? Do I treat God like a maid to clean up the messes in my life? Do I treat him like a transcendent God? Do I tell God how good he is?

I can practice and build my prayer skills no matter how old I am.
