Four Kinds of Fruit

In order for fruit to grow, the plant has to be alive. It requires water, good soil, sunshine, and pruning in order to produce good fruit.

Jeremiah 17:7,8

Ephesians 5:25,26 If I am planted by spiritual waters, I am planted beside the Word of God. My roots will go deep into the Word – not in ideas or promises or traditions. When a tree is planted by the river, is very difficult to remove the roots.

Mark 11:12,13,14,15,16,17,18,19,20,21 Jesus cursed the fig tree because there was no fruit. He couldn’t enjoy the tree for its intended purpose.

People around me should know I am a Christian. Christian fruit should describe the way I am.

Fruits of the Spirit

Galatians 5:22,23 There’s no law against any of these things. I can’t hide these fruits if they are present; others will see it.

Fruit of Prayer

John 15:4,5,6,7,8,9 If I abide in Jesus, asking and receiving is linked to bearing fruit. Answers to prayer are a fruit. When others ask me to pray with or for them, this is because I am bearing the fruit of prayer.

Fruit of Good Deeds and Faithfulness

Ephesians 2:8,9,10 I am not saved by good works, but when I am saved I produce good works. Are my deeds good? Sometimes our good deeds aren’t noticed by anyone but God.

Fruit of praise

Hebrews 13:15 How often do I thank God for his goodness? Trials do not have to determine whether or not there is thanksgiving. Sometimes this is a sacrifice of praise.

What am I doing this week that is joyful, peaceful, or gentle? I continue to do good deeds because God has saved me. When others encounter my fruit, do they taste of God?
